As I consider my views, goals, interests, and reasons for teaching I believe Revelations 19:7 summarizes how i feel I should live:  “Let us rejoice and be glad and give  Him glory!”  I believe each day I  have the opportunity to respond as part of God’s creation with joy and to glorify my Lord.  I strive to live in obedience as His child and to be His servant.  I find that this desire, plus a love for children,  continues to make teaching a meaningful, challenging profession for me.  To teach effectively,  I  need to ensure the curriculum is meaningful, integrated and most importantly, that it is planned, implemented, and evaluated with a Christian perspective so that students may come to fully know their Creator as Lord.  I believe parents and teachers together have the opportunity, the challenge, and the responsibility to  help each child develop to his fullest potential as an image bearer of God.  This is no easy task and requires excellent communication and cooperation between the school and home.
My teaching is based upon these basic principles:  the love and knowledge of God as our Lord and as our personal Savior is fundamental to all learning and living,  we are called to be His servants and to share this joy with others, and joyfully we live a life of service as we honor Him and give glory to Him.
Without a knowledge of God as creator and Savior,  I believe learning and knowledge are incomplete and therefore meaningless.  This knowledge of God helps us interpret, examine, and respond to what we learn.  I try to help students gain insight into the world around them and also what it means to live as a child of God,  joyfully serving Him.,  Integrating curriculum, showing excitement for learning about our world, and demonstrating love in the classroom are how this knowledge of God is essential to my teaching.
Christian servant hoof is fundamental to my teaching.  James 1:22 reminds us that we are commanded to not only be listeners of the Word, but also to do what it says.  To me this means I strive to be an example of one who strives to do God’s will as His servant.  This means I respect each child as a unique part of God’s creation and that it show Christ’s love and joy to my students.  Modeling is important, as well as encouraging students to show love and concern to others, both inside and outside the classroom.  When we do this we honor our Lord and bring glory to Him.  I believe teaching allows me the freedom and challenge to do this.
I must say this is an awesome responsibility and challenge for me as I strive to work with other teachers, parents, and administration to help children learn and grow as covenant children.  Isaiah 40: 29: 31 is a passage I read and reflect upon often and it reminds me that the Lord is my hope and constant source of strength as I face the challenges of teaching.I find this gives me the strength to do the tasks of teaching and to meet the challenges of working with God’s children and their parents.
